A posh (and pet-friendly) downtown Portland hotel to get a $10M makeover
A pet-friendly downtown Portland hotel is set for a full-on makeover to the tune of more than $10 million in 2015.
The Hotel Vintage Plaza , located at 422 S.W. Broadway in an 1894 building, will undergo a complete remodel and rebranding starting in January and ending in March, according to general manager Sandy Burkett.
She said Seattle’s Dawson Design Associates will renovate all 117 of the hotel’s rooms and its lobby.
The project will also add a lobby bar and a game room for both adults and kids.
In addition to the remodel, the hotel will undergo a rebranding and will be renamed the Hotel Vintage-Portland.
“We are looking at this as a total transformation, more than a remodel,” Burkett said. “The décor will be sleek and stylish with a Portland edge.”
The hotel will also step up its connection with the Oregon wine scene. All of the rooms will continue to be named after Oregon wineries, and winery partners will pour at hosted wine hours throughout the year.
“The hotel will reflect the city of Portland, which is a vibrant, exciting place with a pioneering spirit,” Burkett said, “and we will be an expression of that.”
The Hotel Vintage Plaza is owned by Pebblebrook Hotel Trust, which bought the hotel for $30.5 million in 2012. It is managed by Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants.
