West Portland- Portland OR Real Estate

West Portland, compiled of over two dozen neighborhoods, breaks into North West Portland and South West Portland. Where East Portland offers a gridline layout and significantly urban feel, West Portland sprawls and twines around hills and forests, offering Oregon’s natural beauty to those who live there.

Tucked between Route 26 and the Willamette River, NW Portland is home to some of Portland’s most stunning attractions. Neighborhoods within NW are neighbors to the Portland Zoo, International Rose Garden, Japanese Garden, historic Pittock Mansion, and the largest urban park in Oregon, Forest Park.

Providing some of the best views of the Portland skyline, NW neighborhoods are ideal for those craving to live close to nature with quick access to urban amenities. With the readily available transit options of streetcars, bus lines, walking trails and bike paths, nothing in NW Portland is very far away.

The individual neighborhoods of NW, such as Forest Park, Nob Hill, and Hillside, each provide their own unique feel. Forest Park incorporates the like-named forest into the neighborhood boundary, providing the privacy of living in nature while still being moments from Nob Hill. Nob Hill, or the Northwest District, is known for its exceptional shopping and restaurants. Nob Hill real estate consists of everything from condos to detached single-family homes, with apartments being the most common and sought after homes. Hillside, in contrast, has narrow streets that snake between homes in English Tudor, Colonial, Foursquare and Contemporary styles.

Southwest Portland separates itself more from the urban feel in exchange for a variety of single-family homes in well-established family-friendly neighborhoods. Southwest is known for higher education, encompassing Oregon Health & Science University, Portland State, and Lewis and Clark College. This area is the ideal location for families looking for large yards while still having a short commute to downtown Portland.

Multnomah Village is one of Southwest Portland’s most beloved gems. A true village atmosphere, Multnomah is known for its locally owned shops, restaurants, art, and appealing homes, varying from Victorian to cottages to modern condos.

Hillsdale is favored by many for its large lots, green yards, and farmers markets. Many homes in Hillsdale were built between the 40’s and ‘80s, typical styles including broad ranch home and two-story traditional.

South Portland is a bustling mixture of urban and suburban, perfect for those who want to be close to OHSU or live near South Waterfront along the Willamette River. South Portland is made up of several smaller neighborhoods, boasting both historic and modern homes birthed from the neighborhood revolution starting in the late 60s.
